BroadwayCon returns live to NYC July 8-10

Featuring 135 sessions over a full three days, the popular theater convention BroadwayCon, after a two-year pandemic hiatus, is back live in NYC this summer, running from July 8-10, at Manhattan Center and the New Yorker Hotel. With more than 130 hours of programming, panels, performances, workshops, autograph and photograph opportunities, and other events, there is something for every Broadway aficionado to love. It’s a chance to get the complete Broadway fan experience, from every angle, all in one weekend.

Theater lovers can come together, make new friends, meet a roster of Broadway luminaries, and celebrate a selection of Broadway’s biggest shows. Whether you want to browse through the marketplace of Broadway souvenirs and memorabilia, get into a conversation with stage managers, learn more about theater history, hear how your favorite stars got to where they are, or find out about the best college programs for theater students, you can do it through a range of interactive activities, from actor Q&A sessions and conversations to singalongs and a cosplay contest (advance registration required).

The opening ceremony on Friday, July 8, at 12:40 pm, will be hosted by Broadway veteran Ben Cameron (Footloose; Aida; Wicked). Among the shows being represented this year on the Main Stage are A Strange Loop, POTUS, Chicago, Beetlejuice, Dear Evan Hansen, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Six, and Disney Princess – The Concert. In addition, Hillary Rodham Clinton will moderate “Here’s to the Ladies” – a panel of legendary women of Broadway, featuring LaChanze (Trouble in Mind), Julie White (POTUS), and Vanessa Williams (POTUS).

Other participating artists include BroadwayCon co-founder Anthony Rapp (Rent), Shoshana Bean (Mr. Saturday Night), Alex Boniello (Dear Evan Hansen), Jenn Colella (Come From Away), Claybourne Elder (Company), Andrew Barth Feldman (Dear Evan Hansen), L Morgan Lee (A Strange Loop), Telly Leung (Aladdin), Lesli Margherita (Matilda the Musical), Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages), Bianca Marroquín (Chicago), Mauricio Martínez (On Your Feet!), Rob McClure (Mrs. Doubtfire), Bonnie Milligan (Kimberly Akimbo), John-Andrew Morrison (A Strange Loop), Abby Mueller (Six), Jelani Remy (Ain’t Too Proud), Will Roland (Be More Chill), and many more, along with a line-up of Broadway producers, writers, composers, choreographers, and stage managers. Together they will bring attendees through the stage door, to see what happens not just on stage but behind the scenes.

BroadwayCon runs Friday, July 8, 9 am-Sunday, July 10, 8 pm, 2022, at the Manhattan Center, 311 West 34th Street, and the New Yorker Hotel, 481 Eighth Avenue, NYC. For tickets (starting at $80 for a one-day pass, $200 for a three-day pass), go online.
