Broadway at The National has announced its 2023/2024 season, featuring highly anticipated DC premieres and beloved Broadway favorites. The seven-show lineup will kick off in the fall of 2023 and run through the summer of 2024, bringing some of the biggest Broadway titles to the nation’s capital.

The six-show subscription package will include the DC premiere of MRS. DOUBTFIRE, the spectacular pre-Broadway revival and DC premiere of THE WIZ, PRETTY WOMAN: THE MUSICAL, THE BOOK OF MORMON, PETER PAN, and the DC premiere of Broadway’s most Tony Award-winning new show of the season, MJ, the hit musical sensation that explores the creative mind and collaborative spirit of the legendary artist Michael Jackson. MRS. DOUBTFIRE
Begins October 10, 2023
A new musical comedy about the things we do to stay together.

Everyone’s favorite Scottish nanny is headed to Washington, DC in an internationally acclaimed new hit musical critics call “wonderful, heart-warming, and laugh-out-loud funny” (Manchester Evening News) and “a feel-good, family-friendly comedy that delivers” (The Hollywood Reporter). Based on the beloved film and directed by four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks, MRS. DOUBTFIRE tells the hysterical and heartfelt story of an out-of-work actor who will do anything for his kids. It’s “the lovable, big-hearted musical comedy we need right now,” raves the Chicago Tribune – one that proves we’re better together.

THE WIZ
Begins October 24, 2023
Everybody Rejoice! The Tony Award-winning musical is coming to Washington, DC.

The highly anticipated Broadway revival of THE WIZ returns “home” to stages across America in an all-new Pre-Broadway tour, the first one in 40 years. This groundbreaking twist on The Wizard of Oz changed the face of Broadway—from its iconic score packed with soul, gospel, rock, and finger-snapping ’70s funk to its stirring tale of Dorothy’s journey to find her place in a contemporary world. Audiences get to enjoy the epic grooves of such beloved, timeless hits as “Ease on Down the Road,” which became the show’s break-out single, and the bona fide classic “Home” in this spectacular revival.

This entirely reimagined revival and musical extravaganza is directed by Schele Williams (in her Broadway directorial debut), choreographed by Jaquel Knight (in his Broadway debut), additional material by Amber Ruffin, and music supervision, orchestrations, and music arrangements by Joseph Joubert.

PRETTY WOMAN: THE MUSICAL

PRETTY WOMAN: THE MUSICAL, based on one of Hollywood’s most beloved romantic stories of all time, springs to life with a powerhouse creative team led by two-time Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell, an original score by Grammy winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, and a book by the movie’s legendary director Garry Marshall and screenwriter J. F. Lawton. PRETTY WOMAN: THE MUSICAL will lift your spirits and light up your heart. Are you ready to fall in love all over again?

Brilliant. Phenomenal.” It’s THE BOOK OF MORMON, the nine-time Tony Award-winning Best Musical.

This outrageous musical comedy follows the adventures of a mismatched pair of missionaries, sent halfway across the world to spread the Good Word. With standing-room-only productions in London, on Broadway, and across North America, THE BOOK OF MORMON has truly become an international sensation. Contains explicit language.
