Nominations for the 2023 Off Broadway Alliance Awards

The Off-Broadway Alliance is an organization of Off-Broadway producers, general managers, venue owners, press agents, and marketing personnel dedicated to promoting and supporting Off-Broadway theater, encouraging and assisting new producers, and making live theater increasingly accessible to new and diverse audiences. Since 2011, the Off Broadway Alliance Awards have honored the best commercial and not-for-profit Off-Broadway shows that opened in the past season.

This year’s Awards are being presented in six competitive categories, in addition to the Legend of Off Broadway, Hall of Fame Awards, and Friend of Off Broadway, recognizing sustained achievement in the world of Off-Broadway theater. Winners in the competitive categories will be announced on Wednesday, May 31, and celebrated in a ceremony at Sardi’s on Tuesday, June 20.

The 2023 nominees and honorees are:

Best New Play: Cowboy; Fat Ham; On that Day in Amsterdam; Peerless; Which Way to the Stage;

Best Play Revival: A Raisin in the Sun; Candida; Endgame; God of Carnage; The Rat Trap;

Best New Musical: Only Gold; Stranger Sings; The Bedwetter; Titanique; Weightless;

Best Musical Revival: A Man of No Importance; Merrily We Roll Along; Vanities;

Best Unique Theatrical Experience: Asi Wind’s Inner Circle; Hyprov;

Best Solo Performance: Colin Quinn: Small Talk; Mister Miss America; Sugar Daddy; The Near Disaster of Jasper & Casper; Walking with Bubbles;

2023 Legends of Off Broadway Awards: Alison Fraser, actress; David Rothenberg, publicist and producer; Nicholas Viselli, Artistic Director of Breaking Through Barriers;

Off Broadway Hall of Fame Inductees: Andrew Leynse, Artistic Director of Primary Stages; Robert Patrick, playwright; Susan L. Schulman, press agent;

Friend of Off Broadway: Jeff Whiting, director and choreographer.
