Winners of the 2023 Outer Critics Circle Awards for Broadway and Off-Broadway

This morning (Tuesday, May 16), the Outer Critics Circle announced the winners of its 72nd Annual Awards honoring achievements in the 2022-2023 Broadway and Off-Broadway season, which, for the first time, removed gender-based acting categories and included separate awards for Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, previously nominated in the same category.

Leading the awards with five is the Broadway musical Some Like It Hot, followed by the play Leopoldstadt with three. The most-awarded Off-Broadway play with two wins is Downstate.

Outstanding Lead Performer in an Off-Broadway Play: Bill Irwin – Endgame

Outstanding Orchestrations: Bryan Carter and Charlie Rosen – Some Like It Hot

Outstanding Director of a Musical: Michael Arden – Parade

Outstanding Choreography: Susan Stroman – New York, New York

Outstanding Director of a Play: Patrick Marber – Leopoldstadt

Special Achievement Award: To B.H. Barry, one of the world’s foremost fight directors, in recognition of a distinguished six-decade career capped off with Camelot at Lincoln Center Theater.

The Outer Critics Circle Awards will be presented on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the Bruno Walter Auditorium, New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, 40 Lincoln Center Plaza, 65th Street and Columbus Avenue, NYC.
