Two big Broadway events returning in September

Coming in September is the return of two popular Broadway events enjoyed by visitors and locals alike, offering special deals and free programming to theater-lovers in celebration of both the shows of the current season and the greater local economy, to which Broadway is a major contributor, supporting more than 90,000 jobs in NYC.

NYC Broadway Week – The twice-yearly program makes its Fall 2023 return from September 4–17, with tickets on sale now, so don’t miss your chance to get 2-for-1 tickets to a selection of 24 Broadway shows with the code BWAYWK23. Rather than one free ticket for every full-price ticket bought, all tickets will be issued at 50% off their original price (plus applicable taxes and fees), with a minimum purchase of two tickets. Or you can opt for upgraded seats at $125 per ticket using BWAYUP23. Please note that the offer applies to eligible seats only; tickets are limited and subject to availability.

To buy tickets, visit the official NYC Broadway Week page, where you can browse the entire line-up of participating productions or filter by genre, family-friendly shows, and Tony Award winners. The list of shows and the primary ticket-sellers associated with them are:

Curtain Up Broadway Festival – From Friday, September 8, to Sunday, September 10, Playbill, The Broadway League, and the Times Square Alliance will present the third-annual three-day outdoor experience that brings Broadway to the streets in the heart of NYC at Duffy Square (the section of Times Square stretching between 45th and 47th Streets on Broadway). Sponsored by Prudential Financial, with additional support from the NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME), Music Performance Trust Fund, The Film Fund, Open Jar Studios, and Hotel Edison, the festival will offer interactive events and performances that are all live, free, and open to the public.

The schedule includes an official Kick-Off Celebration; Broadway Sing-Alongs; Dueling Pianos; After Dark Concerts; a morning dance warm-up with Ailey Extension; “All That Jazz” – A Celebration of Chita Rivera with the Entertainment Community Fund, members of the American Pops Orchestra, a roster of Broadway stars, and an appearance by Rivera herself; Broadway Block Parties; and the “LIVE from Broadway” finale concert, hosted by Erik McCormack and featuring iconic Broadway musicals, plays, and special guests, to be aired live on WABC TV.

Prudential will also host the new Prudential Stages on Broadway Concert, brought to you by Playbill and hosted by Brittney Johnson (Glinda in Wicked), giving four aspiring and emerging artists from across the country the opportunity to sing on stage with Johnson in front of the public, theater professionals, and contest judges. The winning artist will be awarded a monetary prize of up to $10,000, plus an opportunity for financial advice from a Prudential Advisor.
