DC Actors for Animals to present Beltway Barks 11 on Saturday

DC actors help animals find forever homes in adoption extravaganza.

DC Actors for Animals is back with the 11th Annual Beltway Barks! The event will take place on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg, MD. The show and presentation of the animals is from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The event will feature dozens of adoptable dogs from 9 area rescues and shelters, as well as local pet vendors and non-profits. The raffle will feature theater tickets to the hottest shows in the DC Metro area, as well as gift baskets and merchandise from local retailers.

The emcee for the event will be 97.1 WASH-FM’s own Jenni Chase, with special guest speaker Montgomery County Councilman Evan Glass.

Beltway Barks was inspired by the annual BROADWAY BARKS adoption event, which is in
its 27th year! As BROADWAY BARKS co-founder Bernadette Peters said, “I am thrilled to
see the BROADWAY BARKS tradition spread to Washington, DC with Beltway Barks! Many
thanks to DC Actors for Animals for hosting this wonderful event! I am so excited to see so
many talented actors and dedicated animal lovers come together to help homeless animals. The Beltway Barks event will inform Washingtonians about the plight of the thousands of homeless dogs and cats in DC, Maryland, and Virginia, and that will save lives!”

DC Actors for Animals is an organization founded by Lisa Carrier Baker, a DC stage performer, as well as Academy Director for Adventure Theatre MTC, and adjunct professor at Montgomery College. As Lisa stated, “I have been amazed by the number of actors I have met who tirelessly volunteer, foster, transport, rescue, and adopt animals in need. Being inspired by Broadway Barks, starting Beltway Barks seemed a natural culmination of my two lives: theater and rescue.”

The event has plenty of garage parking available, as well as many restaurants and retailers. Come out for a fantastic day and support animals in need! For more information, visit dcactorsforanimals.com.
