Creative Cauldron produces its first Learning Theater Ensemble production in their new Falls Church home with Snow White/Blancanieves. Based on the iconic fairy tale that we all know so well, this production will feature music and lyrics by award winners Matt Conner and Stephen Gregory Smith, along with an updated script written by Founding Artistic Director Laura Connors Hull and Learning Theater alum Lorien Jackson, featuring Spanish language elements by Artistic Associate Lenny Mendez. This show is presented by Creative Cauldron’s Learning Theater Ensemble which is composed of elementary and middle school aged students and a professional actor.
“With Disney’s live-action Snow White being released in theaters on the same day as our first performance, we felt like it was the perfect time to revisit the classic story. We wanted to bring the original Brothers Grimm tale to life with a fresh take that has not yet been seen. The original story leans more toward the darker side of the tale, so when adapting the script we, along with our ensemble, wanted to focus more on the comedic side of the story. As a part of our Artes Para Todos Initiative, we also wanted to add in Spanish language elements as a way for our Spanish-speaking audiences to enjoy the story,” said Founding Artistic Director Laura Connors Hull.

In 2022, Creative Cauldron launched Artes Para Todos, an initiative breaking down language barriers and expanding access to theater for underserved Spanish-speaking students in Fairfax County. Beginning with partnerships with Second Story and Westlawn Elementary, the Cauldron has expanded its programming into now five Title I schools. They offer free after-school theater workshops, scholarships to Arts Adventure camps, and complimentary tickets to productions, even providing transportation. With support from Arts Fairfax, the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia, and individual donors, Creative Cauldron provided $27,000 in scholarships and $2,500 in free tickets last year, ensuring many young people experience theater for the first time.
