Theatre Prometheus announces the cast and crew of world premiere Where Dead Women go to Dance by DC-based playwright Stephen Spotswood. This intimate two-handeris the story of the night Kim uses ancestral magic to bring her recently deceased best friend back from the dead. But magic comes with consequences, and consequences breed difficult conversations about friendship, love, mental health, and what we owe each other. Where Dead Women Go to Dance opens September 25 at Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center and is directed by Theatre Prometheus Co-Artistic Director, Lauren Patton Villegas. She says: “There is a quiet magic to this play, that is what struck me most about the show. It deals with the huge, existential concept of life and death in a very quiet and intimate way. The situation may be unrealistic, but the relationship is real, the way the characters respond is real.”
Kim will be played by Willow Kyteler. Willow Kyteler (she/her) is honored to originate this role alongside Alex Aspiazu. Previous credits include Riff Raff in Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Hedwig (u/s) in Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
Kim’s understudy is Natalie Pudim. Natalie Pudim (she/her) is proud to be making her professional acting debut with Theatre Prometheus. Natalie is chasing her dreams by pursuing a mid-life theater degree at American University. In addition to performing, Natalie is also a stage manager, director, and intimacy choreographer with a passion for improv and LARP. This summer, she presented and participated in an academic panel at Association for Theatre in Higher Education 2026 and argued strongly for the theatrical value of these art forms.
Ellen will be played by Alex Aspiazu. Alex Aspiazu (she/ella) is incredibly honored to originate this role in collaboration with Willow Kyteler. Alex is a bilingual and multicultural performing artist who pursues theatrical pieces that examine the human condition through the perspectives of women with complex inner lives. Some of those roles have included Captain Markuzi in Cake Eaters (Welders), Olga Kholkova in Muse: The Women of Picasso (Chameleon Theatre Collective) and Kay in Pliant Girls (Theatre Prometheus). Most recently, Alex traveled to NYC to attend the spring acting intensive at the Strasberg Institute.
Ellen’s understudy is Selena Renee Gill. Selena Renee Gill is thrilled to be making their Theatre Prometheus debut after appearing in Nu Sass’ Everything, Devoured as Dante. Previous credits also include Cha-Cha in Finding Neil Patrick Harris, Lena in Hellbent, Fay in Ophelia Chooses, Hecate in It Was The Nightingale: Persephone’s Play.
Jessica De Rocco is the Assistant Director. The creative team also includes scenic design by Simone Schneeberg, costume design by Jaya S. Basu, lighting design by Felix Clark, sound design by Angélica Huertas, fight/intimacy consultation by Alana Isaac, props design and carpentry by Lily Bulman. The production manager for this production is Julia Whitesman, and the stage management team includes Deacon Withers and Mira Morris. Artistic Director Ileana Blustein serves as line producer and Ryan Franks serves as technical director.
Where Dead Women Go to Dance runs September 25 – October 17 at Montgomery College’s Cultural Arts Center Studio Theatre, 7995 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD. Tickets are $25 general admission (with a limited number of pay-what-you-can seats) and available online.
