Michael J. Bobbitt

From Producing Artistic Director Michael Bobbitt: “I have had a long standing admiration for Alton’s work and a long time friendship with him.  Here is performer that has played the most profound African American musical theatre roles of late. All the roles that I wanted to play when I was a performer. Alton does it with great skill and finesse. I am particularly excited to hear our kids sing a song with Alton from The Lion King.  I think this musical changed the genre of Children’s theatre into one where high arts is paramount. This will be a great night and our kids will get to sing to with one of Broadway’s very very best.”

Joining Alton Fitzgerald White are DC area favorites:

Nova Peyton (star of Signature Theatre’s Dreamgirls, Helen Hayes Award winner for  Signature’s Hairspray, and the National Tour of 3 Mo’ Divas).

Kevin McAllister (Helen Hayes-nominated for Ford Theatre’s Parade).

Greg Maheu (Signature Theatre’s Chess, Ford Theatre’s 1776, and ATMTC’s and Big, The Musical).

From Alton: “I am extremely proud of my reputation on Broadway as a performer who very rarely misses performances, but when Michael Bobbitt reached out to me regarding the ATMTC Fundraiser,I knew that it would be well worth taking a couple of shows off. I feel privileged and grateful to do service to this wonderful organization that fosters growth, creative expression and diversity through high quality exposure to the arts.

The ATMTC Fundraiser also perfectly coincides with the October 1st. release of my new CD, Disney My Way! One of the highlights of the Fundraiser will be performing one of the songs from my new recording with some of the students! For purchases and song samples from Disney My Way! and other recordings and info, please visit my website.

I have no doubt that the evening of October 14th will be a night to remember and I am excited!!!”
