This Saturday – ‘2012 Walk to End Alzheimer’s’ in the Nation’s Capital by Nancy Daly

2012 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in the Nation’s Capital – Washington, DC

Nancy Daly (Center in Green) and Actors Unite.

Come join us on this wonderful team of Actors, Industry Colleagues, Friends and Family THIS Saturday, October 27th on the National Mall – Constitution Avenue and 15th Street, NW. “We take care of our own”- that is the foundation of this team. I created the team Actors Unite to End Alzheimer’s – SAG-AFTRA/AEA in 2011 in honor of my mom who was diagnosed in 2009 and my dad who was her primary caregiver.

Actors Unite was endorsed with a unanimous vote by the then SAG National Board and at the AFTRA National Convention in July, 2011, and received overwhelming support by the staff and National Council of Actors’ Equity Association. 100 actors and their friends and family walked in Los Angeles, New York City, Miami and Washington DC to raise over $23,000. Both Backstage.com and Broadwayworld.com hailed our team and actors across the country responded,   “I’m walking in Virginia! I’m walking in Chicago!” As we walked the course in all four cities, other actors saw our signs and ran up to us: “I’m an actor, too! Can I walk with you?” We were walking in glory and in January, 2012 – I received a personal letter from President Obama applauding our team and our dedication to building a community of actors to raise awareness, education and support.

Sadly, my Mom died of Alzheimer’s on May 8th, 2012 and as my Dad said, “You have been carrying this torch – and now – you must run with it!” So, join us – actors, colleagues, friends and family – as we run with this torch to bring about a cure in our lifetime.

Bravo AUEA Team DC: Anne Rosenblatt (AFTRA/SAG staff), Paige Helling, Roz Koff, Paige Ryder, Jane Love, Terri Price, Robert George, and Teresa Flynn (with her parents).

Join us THIS Saturday, October 27th on The National Mall at Constitution Avenue and 15th Street, NW. Registration begins at 8:30 AM. The 1-3 mile walk begins at 10 AM.

Unite in a movement to reclaim the future for millions. Join our team for the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s disease. Together, we can advance research to treat and prevent Alzheimer’s, and provide programs to improve the lives of millions of affected Americans.

“When Actors Unite, the world can shift! As we Irish say, Slainte!”
Nancy Daly, Founder and National Captain of Actors Unite to End Alzheimer’s- SAG-AFTRA/AEA
