33 Variations, playing at The Little Theatre of Alexandria from April 27 – May 18, 2013, is a must see for music and theatre lovers alike from the pen of Moises Kaufman (author of The Laramie Project and Gross Indecency; The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde). Katherine, an eminent musicologist, is determined to discover the reason Beethoven spent so much time writing a series of variations on a second-rate waltz he once described as “a cobbler’s patch.” This modern-day scholar confronts her own mortality and uses Beethoven’s letters to transport the audience into the last days of the musical genius’s life.

Special to these performances of 33 Variations, local musicians will be entertaining theatre patrons in the theatre’s Green Room prior to the show!  Music groups include Bishop Ireton High School’s Woodwind Trio, the Fairfax Chamber Ensemble, T.C. Williams High School Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble, Dr. Sgrecci and members of the Washington Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, Elise Kolle (harpist), and more!

For more information and to buy tickets for 33 Variations, visit the LTA website.

There is no additional cost for the musical entertainment that will be featured in the LTA’s Green Room prior to the show.
