Friday, May 17th, 2013 at 7:00pm – The Bully Play by Compass Rose Theater Student Playwright Hannah Geib

Staged Reading and Post-Show Discussion
Tickets: $10
A play about a high school, where the social status quo is turned on its head when a popular boy, Josh, asks the new girl– who is a stranger to most of the students– to a dance. This sparks jealousy from the school’s Queen Bee, Elena, who wants Josh for herself.

8:30pm – Freefall by Professional Playwright Mark Scharf
Staged Reading

Have you ever wanted to quit everything – stay home and carve out your own world with no demands or constraints? In this edgy comedy, the rational collides with the emotional as two men grapple with the human connection that binds us all in spite of ourselves.

Saturday, May 18th, 2013
11:30am – Lance the Lunkhead by Local Playwright Dan Baum
Staged Reading by The Young Actors’ Studio (appropriate for ages 4 & up)
Tickets: $10

A play about a valiant dog. Poor Lance just wants to break free from his yard and run with the other dogs in the neighborhood, until a newcomer arrives on the scene. A play for young audiences and the young at heart.

6:00pm – Wine and Cheese Reception with Lee Blessing
Tickets: $15

7:30pm – Keynote Speech and Scenes from Eleemosynary
Tickets: $35
Keynote Speaker Lee Blessing is a major voice in modern American theater. His plays have been produced both on and off-Broadway, and are performed throughout the world. Performance of selected scenes from Compass Rose Theater’s production of Mr. Blessing’s play, Eleemosynary. Discussion and reception with the playwright. Purchase tickets early as this special event is expected to sell out!

A lively theater experience that blends life story writing, prompts, and music into a collage of eclectic, poignant, and funny tales. And yes, they’re all true. Q&A session with the authors to follow.
