Why did she take this amazing opportunity? In an article in The Boston Globe on November 25th, she said, “I was immediately grabbed by the part of the mission that says, we do theater with a feminine voice that jostles minds and hearts. It sort of spoke to me,” Gardner says. “I think I have the skills to take not just the Nora but the Central Square Theater in [the direction] they want to grow.”

Catherine Carr Kelly, Executive Director of The Nora Theatre Company, is excited Lee has accepted the position: “Lee is the whole package in many ways,” says Kelly. “She’s an actor, a director, she’s received more than 25 nominations for the Helen Hayes [awards — the Washington equivalent of Boston’s Elliot Norton Awards], she’s worked with over 20 new plays, she’s worked with playwrights extensively.”
