‘Opera on Tap’ Hosts ‘Love is in the Air’ on February 5th at The Black Lounge by Eric Tipler

The new DC Metro Chapter of Opera on Tap, a national movement that brings world-class opera to new audiences, will present its first concert on
February 5th.

The concert, entitled Love is in the Air,” celebrates Valentine’s Day and features classic songs and scenes from opera and musical theater. Concertgoers will have the unique chance to enjoy live opera in a laid-back atmosphere, over food and drink from the kitchen of the Black Fox Lounge-1723 Connecticut Avenue NW, in Washington, DC.

Tickets are only $12, and are on sale now at Eventbrite.com.

7-10 pm (Doors open at 7:00, Concert begins at 8:00)

“Love is in the Air” will feature the vocal talents of founding divas Elisa Jablow and Kristina Riegle, as well as local opera singers Melissa Chavez, Ben Pattison, Brody DelBeccaro, and pianist Dana Scott.

Opera on Tap is a national non-profit organization that breaks down the stereotype that opera is stuffy or elitist by bringing it to bars, clubs, and other non-traditional spaces. Opera on Tap was founded nine years ago in New York City, and now includes fourteen chapters in major metropolitan areas around the country. It has been reviewed and profiled by major media outlets
including The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and The Los Angeles Times.

The DC Metro Chapter of Opera on Tap was founded this winter by Elise Jablow and Kristina Riegle. Elise and Kristina are both professional opera singers who perform on stages across the country. Before moving to DC in 2012, Kristina was one of the founding divas of Opera on Tap Boston.

Brand new to DC, soprano Elise Jablow is thrilled to launch Opera on Tap DC Metro, after being briefly involved with OOT New York. She is a recent Manhattan School of Music grad and spent the past year as a resident artist with Underworld Productions Opera. In addition to performing, Elise keeps a voice studio out of her home in SW DC and dreams of the day she will adopt a rescue dog! Kristina Riegle is quickly establishing herself as an exciting and engaging singing actor on the opera, theatre and concert stages. In 2012 Kristina moved to the DC area from Boston, where she was one of the founding divas of Opera on Tap Boston. She is excited to bring OOT to the District with her co-director Elise!
