Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC) Academy announces its plan to issue over $25,000 in scholarships to young performing arts students in the Montgomery County and Washington, D.C. area for its second annual Summer Musical Theater Training Program. Led by highly experienced professional instructors, the Summer Musical Theater Training Program is an exciting 3-week program that provides strong technique training in singing, dancing, and acting.

Audition times are April 19 (10 am-2 pm) and April 24 (5 pm-7 pm).

For more information about the program, visit ATMTC’s website or call (301) 251-5766.

These scholarships are designed to encourage and support outstanding performing arts students entering Grades 6-12 in Fall 2014 who have the work ethic and will to succeed on the stage in their academic or professional career. Scholarship award winners will be announced in early May of 2014.

Scholarship award recipients will be placed in the 3 style-specific sessions offered in Summer 2014: Broadway Revival Study (June 16- July 3), Golden Age/MGM Musical Study (July 7-25), and Contemporary Musical Study (July 28- August 15). Each student will be placed into a Company based on factors including ability, age, and experience. Companies will train together in technique-specific classes and will work collaboratively during the rehearsal process on assigned musical numbers, vignettes, and scenes to be presented on the last day of the session for family and friends.

Kathryn Hnatio, Education Director at Adventure Theatre MTC says of the program, “Last year’s program was so beloved by our students, that we’ve already exceeded my expectations in enrollment for both scholarship auditions and the program itself. Space is still available but there are a limited number of audition slots, so interested students shouldn’t wait.”

Interested students should contact Jared Shortmeier, Adventure Theatre MTC Assistant Education Director, for information about the Summer Musical Theater Training Program scholarship.
