Alex: How did you get involved in theatre? When did you know that you want to be an actor?

Mark: After watching Richard Kiley in the pre-Broadway musical Man of La Mancha at the National Theatre. I was 9 years old.

Tell me about One Man, Two Guvnors. How are the rehearsals are going? What do you love most about the show?

Creativity during the rehearsal process in a comedy is a delight. Having a band playing is a blast. Music lightens the soul and puts everyone in a great mood to attack a quick paced script.

Is this your first time at 1st Stage? If so what’s the experience like? If you’ve worked with us before, tell us what makes 1st Stage unique. What brought you back?

This is my second show. Last season, I was honored to play Johnny Pateen Mike in The Cripple of Inishmaan. Also, I played at The Kennedy Center in a 1st Stage sponsored, Birthmark. Quite simply put, 1st Stage loves actors! 1st Stage loves putting on plays! There’s so much love of theatre in this building, who wouldn’t want to return.

What kind of theatre inspires you as an artist?

All kinds of theatre are inspiring in one aspect or another, but I do love Irish and British plays. Oh and American plays and French plays and Russian plays, and Canadian plays and Swedish plays and Swiss plays and Italian plays and German plays South American plays and African plays and Spanish plays, etc. And I love comedies and tragedies. Oh – and history plays and most definitely musicals. New plays and Old plays inspire me as well.

Who or what has been the biggest influence on your work as an actor thus far?

Patrick Tucker (Director & Friend, BBC).

What is the one thing you are most excited about for the show?

Singing!
