‘La-Ti-Do’ Is Looking For A New Home: An Open Letter to the DC Area Arts Community by Don Michael Mendoza

An Open Letter to the DC Area Arts Community:

Providing a safe, inclusive and encouraging environment is of the utmost importance when creating and experimenting with any art form. La-Ti-Do served the local music and spoken word communities by making that available and has had the privilege to do so at the Black Fox Lounge since 2012 with our three year anniversary coming up in January 2015.

As an organization, we’ve had the opportunity to work and collaborate with some of the brightest established and up-and-coming artists from the nation’s capital and beyond by providing that welcoming space on a weekly basis.

However, on January 1, 2015, Black Fox Lounge – our home – will be closed indefinitely. We acknowledge that these things happen, but are now asking for your assistance to help us find a new venue to keep La-Ti-Do going.

We want to continue doing what we love and to keep touching countless lives both on stage and in the audience. We appreciate and thank you for the art you’ve so generously shared and the attention you’ve paid at La-Ti-Do every week, which has been beyond a dream come true.

My Co-Founder Regie Cabico and I welcome any and all suggestions on a new location so that we can all continue to learn from each other and to grow as creators with the ultimate goal of keeping that dream alive. The DC metro area’s artistic community has a wonderful reputation for being supportive and we call on you because we know you will make it ring true in La-Ti-Do’s time of need.

We can be contacted via email at [email protected]  and hope to hear from you!

Thank you,
Don Michael Mendoza

LA-TI-DO is the Winner of A Special Award in 2012 and 2013 on DCMetroTheaterArts:

La-Ti-Do has filled a void in the DC arts scene, with their weekly cabaret performances of music and spoken word. Their events not only simultaneously showcased up-and-coming and professional artists, but they fostered the community of artists in the DC/MD/VA area.”
