The Workhouse Arts Center is pleased to announce the D.C. premier of the acclaimed Vincent, Thursday, October 15 through Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 18, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. in the W-3 Theatre.
Written by Leonard Nimoy and directed by Paul Stein, this exhilarating look into the mind of a misunderstood genius was hailed by the Los Angeles Times for “transcend[ing] the usual clichés surrounding the high-maintenance artist.”
A few days following the death of little known painter, Vincent Van Gogh, rumors are flying in Paris. Some say he was a penniless madman, a frequenter of prostitutes and a soon to be forgotten artist of trifling quality. Others denounce him as a wayward priest and a foreigner. Many whisper that he took his own life in a moment of insanity. His brother, Theo, Vincent’s confidant and lifelong supporter, is enraged. Tonight, he hopes to set the record straight.
Critically acclaimed French-born performer Jean-Michel Richaud, under the steadfast support of Leonard Nimoy brings this production to the Workhouse Arts Center. Originally performed and toured by Leonard Nimoy in over 35 cities between 1978 and 1981, this re-production of Vincent has performed to sold-out houses in Los Angeles and San Diego before traveling to New York, and most recently Paris, where audiences and critics embraced the production and was nominated a 2015 Petit Moliere Award for Best One-Man show.

The Workhouse Arts Center opened in 2008 in the former District of Columbia Prison in Lorton, and has since been recognized as one of the best repurposed historic buildings in the country. Programs serve more than 75,000 students, artists, and visitors each year.
