The Sterling Playmakers community theater group opens their summer family musical HONK! on July 28 and runs for three weekends, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 PM and Sunday matinees at 2:00 PM. This delightful, award-winning adaptation based on the classic Hans Christian Anderson tale The Ugly Duckling, with music by George Stiles and book and lyrics by Anthony Drewe, is perfect fun for the entire family to attend with catchy tunes and a sincere message about acceptance and being your own self. HONK! follows the Ugly Duckling (Henry Waldrop) who knows he does not fit in from the moment he hatches to momma Ida (Jane Waldrop) and father Drake (Kieth Flores) as he sings about being different all the way up to the day he meets sweetheart Penny (Juliet Marsh). Everyone in the barnyard teases him including his sibling ducklings (Hannah Hillman, Amara Horton, Annie Lian, and Annabel Stein) so much he runs away with the sneaky snarky Cat played by handsome Muggs Leone. Come see how poor Ugly’s rite of passage from a duckling to his rightful heritage is resolved in this touching musical full of fun songs and dance. This show is guaranteed to entertain all ages with the rest of the talented cast, which includes Hadley Anderson, Jules Darmofalksi, De’Andre Darby, Cara Ethington, Adam Gurson, Charlie Gurson, Joelle Haun, TJ Hillman, Arabella Horton, Anastasia Lee, Cee Mason, Michelle Morgan, Jerien Okh-Tisch, Jenna Stein, Cat Thompson, and Joey West.
