Special offer for a day trip from NYC to see Broadway stars in ‘The Bridges of Madison County’ at Bucks County Playhouse

Founded in 1939, on the site of a former 1790 grist mill on the banks of the Delaware River, Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, PA, is offering a special opportunity for NYC theater lovers to see its acclaimed production of The Bridges of Madison County, directed by Hunter Foster (who appeared in the original 2014 Broadway cast) and starring Broadway’s Kate Baldwin (Finnian’s Rainbow; Hello, Dolly!) and Nicholas Rodriguez (Tarzan; Company), with the venue’s first-time offer of a bus and theater package.

For the 2 pm matinee performances on Thursday, September 7, and Sunday, September 10, New York area residents can board a direct-charter bus provided by Panorama Tours from a location in the theater district. Departing at 9 am, patrons will arrive in New Hope with time to dine and shop before the show. Following the matinee performance (with a running time of two hours and 45 minutes), the bus will leave the Playhouse for a return to NYC. The package is $139 and includes roundtrip bus transportation, driver tip, theater ticket, and all fees. Please note that package tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance, no later than Thursday, August 31.

Based on the best-selling novel by Robert James Waller, the musical romance The Bridges of Madison County, with a book by Pulitzer Prize- and Tony-Award winner Marsha Norman (The Secret Garden) and a Tony-winning score by Broadway’s Jason Robert Brown (Parade), tells the story of Francesca Johnson, an Italian woman who married an American soldier to flee war-ravaged Italy. Looking forward to a rare four days alone on her Iowa farm when her family heads out to the 1965 State Fair, her plans change when a chance encounter with Robert Kincaid, a ruggedly handsome National Geographic photographer, leads to a whirlwind relationship that forever alters the course of her life.

If you’d like a quick getaway to an historic theater in a beautiful location for an acclaimed regional production of a Broadway favorite, The Bridges of Madison County bus and theater package can be purchased online, or by calling the box office (215) 862-2121.
