This week we’ll look at the leading Tony Award candidates in the Fall plays, with a maximum of four per category and presented in alphabetical order.
Play — None. (Only two new plays appeared.)
Revival — The Glass Menagerie, The Winslow Boy, Twelfth Night and Waiting for Godot.
Actor — Ian McKellan (Waiting for Godot), Zachary Quinto (The Glass Menagerie), Roger Rees (The Winslow Boy), and Mark Rylance (Twelfth Night).
Actress — Cherry Jones (The Glass Menagerie and Condola Rashad (Romeo and Juliet).

Openings:
1) Beautiful – The Carole King Story, which chronicles her musical and personal journey from writing tunes for pops songs through her Tapestry album, is in previews and will open January 12th.
2) Machinal, which examines the restless and unfulfilled life of a young woman in the “Golden Age” of the 1920′s, is in previews and will open January 16th.
