2022 Capital Fringe Review: ‘All the Feels: An uplifting cabaret’ by Pinky Swear Productions

A show true to its name: a group of friends have a karaoke party and sing about the highs and lows of pandemic life and the state of the world.

Pinky Swear Productions presents All the Feels: An uplifting cabaret at the Capital Fringe Festival and delivers a show true to its name. Karen Lange, who also performs in the production, wrote the piece along with the rest of the ensemble.

The premise is simple and relatable. A group of friends get together for the first time after the pandemic to have a karaoke party and sing an array of popular songs hitting the highs and lows of pandemic life and the state of the world as it stands today.

Karen is the host of the party and, unbeknownst to the rest of the group, put out an invite on Nextdoor, which accounts for why the audience is there.

The actors play variations of themselves and choose songs that are special to their own experiences and feelings. Some have struggled with love. Others have made deeper friendships by being stuck together. And some just need to SING!

Along with Karen Lange, this talented and beautifully diverse cast includes Nichole Chimere-Morgan, Zack Ford, Preston Grover, Rebecca Speas, Eli Wassertzug, and Katie Wicklund. Each and everyone had a killer voice and their own standout moment.

The free-form performance has great energy and feels very casual and inviting. Karen polls the audience for covid experiences, including the dating world gone digital. And while the audience doesn’t get to sing, they are very much involved.

Definitely catch this one if you can. Pinky Swear Productions’ All the Feels: An uplifting cabaret was a delight to watch and everyone left smiling and invigorated.

The show is exactly as they claim on the program: “Some goddamn sunshine for a weary world.”
