Capital Fringe 2014 Show Preview: ‘Size Doesn’t Matter: 7 Shorts By DC Playwrights’ by Nan Kyle Ficca

For the seventh consecutive summer, Fully Charged Productions gleefully romps at Capital Fringe in Size Doesn’t Matter — 7 Shorts by DC Playwrights In this incarnation, Fully Charged revels in a fast-paced sketch parade written by four local playwrights and directed by Ray Ficca.

From poignant pieces to absurd scenarios, this show inspires introspection while infusing keen comedy. Witness a Greek chorus cheering on an obsessive dieter—support group style. Revel in clever (and not-so-clever) ways to finagle into an audition and out of jury duty. See streets come alive as one DC neighborhood takes another under its wing and waxes about ways to weather gentrification. And where else but the Fringe do you find chatting bonsai trees?

Alchemist Ray Ficca animates these sketches with a wink, a chuckle, and tongue firmly in cheek. In true Fringe Festival fashion, playwrights Mario Baldessari, Renee Calarco, Zachary Fernebok (a.k.a. The Pirate Laureate), and John Morogiello provide a playground for actors to delve into the delicious lives of zany characters in quirky scenarios. The talented cast is an ensemble of graduates from the National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts—the first and longest running accredited actors training institution in the DMV region.

The company that brought An Adult Evening with Shel Silverstein and How to Have It All: The Musical delights to deliver this tasty new comedy to the Fringe!
