Great news from The Big Apple: Side Show which played from June 14 – July 13, 2014 at The Kennedy Center’s Eisenhower Theater, and opened to rave reviews, is now headed to The St. James Theatre on Broadway with previews beginning on October 28th and the official opening on November 17th. It’s so well-deserved for this exceptional production! Tickets go on sale on August 13th. Side Show has music by Henry Krieger, Book and Lyrics by Bill Russell, and is directed by Bill Condon.
In his review on DCMetroTheaterArts, David Friscic remarked, “Under the Direction of Bill Condon, this current edition of Sideshow (which was developed in association with the La Jolla Playhouse) manages to merge glitz and realism to portray the famous Siamese Twins (conjoined at the hip), the Hilton Sister-Daisy (Emily Padgett) and Violet (Erin Davie)-in the most heartbreaking and poignantly real fashion I have yet to see…This is a challenging, absorbing and meticulously produced Side Show. The Kennedy Center’s production, above all, is a radically reconceived Side Show that will live on for the ages. It should, deservedly, garner a large and loyal following. It is so multi-layered, that it demands repeated viewings.”
Side Show begins previews on October 18, 2014 and officially opens on November 17, 2014 at The St. James Theatre-246 West 44th Street, in New York, NY 10036. Go to the show’s website to purchase tickets beginning August 13th.
